The St. John's all-parish, all-ages retreat is is scheduled for May 9-11 at Shrine Mont Camp and Conference Center in Orkney Springs Virginia. Shrine Mont is a beautiful, well-maintained Episcopal resource situated on 1,100 wooded acres with hiking trails, pickle-ball courts, a labyrinth, a pond, athletic fields (great for star-gazing), and more. The Shrine Mont campus is family-friendly and accessible for visitors of all ages. Delicious food (and plenty of it) will be prepared for us. All rooms include linens and a private bathroom. Handicapped accessible accommodations are also available. Friday Check-in is 4-5PM. Saturday We are working on the final schedule now. Activities will include: hiking, games, group activities (walking the labyrinth), time for reflection, and more. Sunday We'll celebrate a Service of Unity in the outdoor Shrine. After the service, pack up and grab a hearty lunch of Southern Fried Chicken before you hit the road! While registration for this event has officially ended, work continues to finalize the schedule and ensure a safe, fun, enriching event for everybody! Stay tuned for updates.
Our first event was a gathering for a liturgy of healing on February 23rd. There were prayers for healing offered by all of our retired clergy, as well as the creation of an offertory by Deaconess Hannah, sung towards healing and wholeness. Our new vestry was also be commissioned for service as we are Woven as One . After both liturgies, every member was invited to take a turn weaving a few rows on the Unity Loom.
